Iron Man 2

I am not so sure this is going to be good at all. God I hope I'm wrong..

Anyway, on the brighter side of things, Avatar was as expected, amazing. As per usual, graphics were unbelievable. Although I think this has been the most un-dark(?) film James Cameron has ever done, save for Titanic (although I've never seen it) but evidence of his workmanship is still very much abundant throughout the film i.e. aliens, robots, massive machineries and biological creatures which only the mind of one James Cameron could ever create and manifest on screen. Although, it can be quite cliched at times still, I enjoyed it, cliches and all. Finally, an action movie worth watching. Of course, if you still prefer Ninja Assassin to this, please, feel obligated to call yourselves idiots (of course, respectfully).

· House of Flying Daggers

I have recently become addicted Asian epic type movies, and I think if you’re just getting into it, these two (along with the one below) should be great movies to start with.

· Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Kung-fu is attractive but not as much as Zhang Ziyi.

· Fargo

Just terrific, they never really make movies like this anymore. Dark comedy at it’s best. Superbly written. It’s just a shame I only got to see it now, but then would’ve been 9 years old if I got to see it the year it was released.

· Burn After Reading

Part of its flaws was that the plotline fit in too tightly, every single detail were connected into one story. But I guess that’s what made it interesting. All things aside, I still greatly enjoy it.

· Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Now, I’ve never really been a fan of romantic comedies but I can hardly feel the romance in this particular movie, or maybe it was just overwhelmed by filth comedy. Just the way I like it.

I saw Resident Evil: Degeneration a while ago and I was really disappointed. Bad voice acting, highly predictable plot (remember, I've never really played the games before) and stiff animation (particularly with oral movement). I always thought Resident Evil would be better if it was animated. Unfortunately I was wrong.

Anyways, lately I've been doing a lot of soul searching with music to find a new sound, and what I found was this. I don't know if anyone read yesterday's paper, in the opinion page, a person wrote about how he wants the government to take piracy seriously in Brunei. This arrogant fucker is too proud or too rich for his own good. I can't really say for every other people who depend on pirated DVDs to keep themselves sane by getting the only kind of cheap entertainment that's attainable and doesn't involve syringes or a candle and a spoon, but if it weren't for pirated DVDs, I can guarantee you I'd either be a junkie or a suicide. God forbid if I should resort to watching mostly shitty movies played in local theatres and their 3 dollar fucking bottled water, bottled water is fifty cents fuckers, overpricing is an understatement.

In his/her words, "You've made a decision to have 5 or 6 kids and a car payment or two now you have to support that decision and go without other areas of entertainment." This person's arrogance is just astounding. First of all, the words other areas of entertainment are practically non-existent in Brunei, what with the smoking ban (although smoking zones were separated from non-smoking zones) and the "all stores must close at 11"(I think) law and second, should families be deprived of entertainment just because they have more kids?

No, there's no justifying the fact that we are stealing from an industry that makes hundreds of billions of dollars (undoubtedly more) anually but consider this, even IF they bring in original DVDs from abroad (and that's a big IF), they'd cost as much as an upperclass prostitute or a bag of grade A hard drug, now in the mind of an immature teenager with raging hormones and friends to impress, would he/she rather buy one DVD or a week's supply of cheap drugs? I am inclined to think the latter could be a popular option.

So fuck you Jack Sparrow for being an arrogant prick! Ooooh, you think you're so smart using a fictional gay drunken pirate's name as your psuedonym.

And the stupidity doesn't end there, remember when smoking wasn't illegal in restaurants, they had a nice cozy place for non smokers where they had air-conditioning and TV, but still these people choose to sit and dine where it was really hot, smelly and noisy, the smoking zone. And to further exercise their rights to dumbness, they whine and complain and bitch to authorities that the act of smoking in the smoking zone should not be allowed. Ahhh, stupid people, you can't live with them, you can't live without them.

I've actually seen some of these movies for quite a while but I've only gotten around to writing about them now and I know, (except for Michael Clayton) they're not exactly latest releases. In fact some of them are pretty old but it's pretty hard to find new movies that are actually good. I'm not going to talk about all of them, you could just check them out yourselves, I've linked them.

The first four movies are by animated films by film maker Hayao Miyazaki. I've just recently come to fall in love with his work. These four in particular are environmentally themed epic fantasies. I am currently looking for more of his older works.

Shadow of The Vampire is also very good. It's a weird sort of fake biopic film about the crew that made the silent film Nosferatu. Very surreal.

This movie is actually based on the Wineville Chicken Murders and yes, that is Angelina Jolie, hard to believe, I never noticed it before, she's could actually act (She's could actually act? what the hell was I on?). Scheduled to release on the 31st October in North America and theres a big chance that I will have to wait for the DVD release.

I found this guy through brudirect, he sells TV series shows. I was pretty skeptical at first but I already bought some of his stuff, he's legit. But videos are in digital format, so I guess most of the stuff can't be played on a dvd player but if you're anything like me, you probably watch your DVDs on your PC anyway. So check it out.

By the way, watch Dark Knight, it's awesome but you'd probably want to see it twice, the plot is a bit confusing to watch only once. I'm still waiting to see Hellboy II.

Two more movies, both good [Rec] and Control.

[Rec] is a Spanish film, set in Barcelona (I think), basically another one of those fake documentary-like movies. A hell of a lot more intense than Cloverfield and looks more real than Diary of The Dead. One of the best horror films I have seen recently and (not surprisingly) an American remake is on the way. It will be called Quarantine, you can check out the trailer three posts below this one. The trailer looks pretty good but judging from past movies, American remakes are almost never good.

Control is about Ian Curtis from the band Joy Division. I didn't really know of their existence until I heard The Distillers covering one of their songs, which is pretty shameful. Anyway, the movie was paced a bit too slow at first but it exploded dramatically (uhuh, uhuh) towards the end. Very powerful and eccentric. It grabs you from the start and never lets you go. Some of the best acting performances I have EVER seen.

This looks interesting but I don't know what to think of it yet, it might be very good but that also means it could be horrible. Anyway, we'll find out soon enough.

Diary of the Dead was a dissapointment. Don't buy it, even if you're curious. And you know what, social commentary isn't as important as how the movie should make you feel. People see movies for what they are, when people watch horror films they expect to be scared. That was what was missing. The character that plays the cameraman was annoying as fuck and there's an englishman that's a walking cliche. Now the shit icing on top of the shit sundae, it's suppose to look real, life like, because it was suppose to be a documentary but the acting was too obvious, the acting wasn't even that good to start with. It ends with the cliche above all cliches, "Are we worth saving?". Well, it wasn't worth watching.

I think Goerge A. Romero stole the idea from somewhere else. There was another movie, called The Zombie Diaries, look it up. It came out in 2006.

A new Street Fighter film is in development and is scheduled for a 2008 release. According to the screenwriter, Justin Marks, the plot will revolve around female fighter Chun-Li embarking on a quest. On December 21, 2007, Smallville star Kristin Kreuk was confirmed for the role of Chun-Li and film production will begin in March 2008. Michael Clarke Duncan has also been cast as boxer Balrog, Chris Klein will play Nash, and Gen, orginally intended for Rick Yune, will be played by Robin Shou, who played Liu Kang in the adaptations of the Mortal Kombat video games.

Teeth was awesome. Not as perverted as you might think. But it is quite painful to watch certain scenes. I don't think I need to be specific.

Anyway, before that I was watching Donnie Darko, to tie up loose ends. It's an amazing movie. It's rare to find movies that don't end after the closing credits. You have to really think after that, of how all the events tied up together. Kind of like Signs, but that was a lot easier to figure out.

I think it's amazing and a little frustrating that there is almost no one that I know of, that share the same movie interests as I do. On one hand it's kind of cool, on the other hand, other people think I have no taste in good movies, like XXX or Jumper. Oh, that reminds me, the most awful movie in at least a decade, is ..............(consider the dots a drum roll)................ Jumper! Give yourselves a tiny clap for that.

Sometimes people get really weird and you can't help but think that they're only trying to get your attention. It gets on everybody's nerves and people try to not show it but after a while people just don't care.

Anyway, exam week is starting, my first paper's on monday. Going to be a hell of a week. I kind of like it. Just because I know it will all be over soon, well, year one anyway. Back to square one in July.

So a friend suggested I watch Demetri Martin. I was delighted. Haven't laughed this hard since I saw Mitch Hedberg's video for the first time. Demetri definitely is definitely something new, very intellegent, quite possibly the smartest stand up comedian there ever was. Anyway, this is what I'm talking about.

He did a show, it's called If I, I loved it. It's rare to see a comedian being inspirational.

I finally got out of my house today, after two days of staying in because of the fever. I didn't do much, I'm still not feeling well. Well, anyway, I got DVDs and I just finished watching Eastern Promises. I believe, it might have been the best movie I've seen in a long time. In a nutshell, Saw meets Godfather, replace Mafiosos with the Russian mob. Highly recommend mature movie goers to watch. Amazing acting, plot well thought out, just phenomenal all around.

And if your flavor of the week is independent movies, then Hallam Foe might give you the satisfaction. I can't imagine talking about any other movie besides the one I mentioned above, so read it up on Wikipedia. Pretty decent, enjoyable.

The real reason why I went out today was because I was looking for Kingdom of Heaven, the Director's cut, the box set. It is 45 minutes longer than the one officially released and supposedly way better. I thought I saw it once in Kominis, it's not there anymore. So if anyone's seen it, please let me know.

I was lurking around in Wikipedia, guess what I found out. They're making a sequel to The Hulk, with Edward Norton and and and, Underworld but it doesn't say if Kate Beckinsale will be in it. I've deleted the last post, albeit too late. I felt the post was too unfair, not to mention uncalled for. Anyway, I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately. A post in Airholes' purevolume page, written by Azam I belive.

Huge piles of smoke settle in the room. While Fadzil tries to master and experiment with his pro-tools recording machine, Band-friends enter and exit the room as they like. This was where innovative local music was being made at that time. From the glass window, you could see the other room where bands worked with their music as others hanged while waiting for their turn to play. The place gets even livelier at night, and the most memorable one would be when an uninvited gum-addict came knocking to our room of probably more than 10 people.Our response was far from civil as we threatened and chased the poor druggy away. What makes the studio more symbolic is the fact that a large number of local underground bands recorded their works and polished musical abilities at 537 records. In other words, the studio was like a second home for a lot of young people.Humans of all genres have entered this room, Rock and Roll,Metal,Alternative,Black Metal,Hip Hop,Pop,Dancers, even Skaters,and not forgetting to mention the chase we gave the gum-addict whom i doubt would be in a state of sobriety until today.But the most special part of the self-proclaimed institution would be the fact that the studio was owned by an unexperienced 18 year old high school drop out!(Now a music undergrad in Manchester).

Sadly. the studio is now being made as an extended part of Khaz corner's dining experience. The only thing that remains is the glass window which stands both as a landmark and a sign that the place was once upon a time a music playground.I had a lot of flashbacks during my meal as i wasted a hell lot of my college days in that very room. 537 records might be on a temporary break and pending for re-location.But for what its worth,the trippy trip was a very memorable 'waste' for any 17 year old teenage musician to experience. and live-on to. Our band is honored to be a part of 537 records history.

But there is still a long high-way for us to drive through. Both for the label, and the development of our local scene. And if you were to ask me, i would say nothing is impossible. But then again, maybe this last paragraph is just full of 'inggui' over-ambitious, idealistic lines.

Enlighten me.

I just saw Into The Wild, very awesome indeed. It has been sitting around in my room for a week I think. Almost put it away unwatched, I'm glad I didn't. Anyway, it's about a guy who gave away his life savings to live on his own, away from civilization to truly live. Storyline's pretty straight forward but there's a lot of stuff that the movie had to say that were very, how do you say, insightful? Based on a true story in fact.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, a new series, a different story, I haven't seen acting, and writing for that matters, this bad since XXX (Triple X in case you were wondering) and that reminds me, who in the right mind would name their movie XXX? Anyway Sarah Connor..... rather than watching, or worse, buying it on DVD, I suggest you spend your time in a more productive way like sleeping, sneezing or hanging yourself.

I found The Futurama movie yesterday, Futurama; Bender's big score, I'm so glad they're back now. But they're releasing them in movies though, so it might be the last time I'll ever see them again. They're cutting the four movies into episode for the fitfh season though, to show on Cartoon Network.

The movie was alright I guess, I just feel they shouldn't have made it into a movie. It didn't go well for an hour plus long movie but I am looking forward to watching all of them. It did have a lot of bonuses for the fans of Futurama though, a lot references to what happened to Fry in the older episodes. And another awesome thing, in the special features section, they included a live comic reading of Futurama, it was very funny and another awesome thing they had was that they explained a lot of what happened in their shows, like mathematical theorems and explanations on a lot of theoretical Physics (if that is what they really call it) that they base their writings for all the episode on. I always knew there were educated people on the show, I just didn't realise how many PHDs and professors they had working on the show.

I also got 3:10 to Yuma. Very cool indeed.

Anyway, I've been thinking a lot about putting up a website, music reviews and stuff. A project to keep myself busy I guess but I don't really know my Dreamweaver that well anymore. I thinking of learning all that stuff again maybe soon, see if it is possible for me to create and manage the site as soon as I can.

So I bought this DVD, The Death of Ian Stone. It’s a low budget movie I think, the quality isn’t that bad but it’s definitely not great. Although it has its flaws, I have to admit, I enjoyed it. I know what you're thinking, if you’ve seen one low budget thriller you’ve seen them all but the storyline was quite well thought out and there were a lot of suspense going around. I don't really want to give anything away, so if you see the DVD around, I recommend you get it.

I was reading Borneo Bulletin last Saturday, and one of the articles showed a picture of Emma Rossum, (naturally) i read on it, it says she was casted in a new movie Dragon Ball. Wow.... Finally.. I hope Hollywood won't fuck this one up too, Hollywood's adaptations of classic shows are almost never good. We'll see, anyway this is from wikipedia.

Dragonball is a 2008 live action film adaptation of the Dragon Ball franchise. I havent been able to find any good bands lately but I stumbled into a band called Darkest Hour, theyre pretty good, melodic metal band. Their latest album, Deliver Us, give it a try.

And, As I Lay Dying's latest album is pretty good too, An Ocean Between Us, it sounds way better than the last album, in my opinion. Their songwriting sounds a lot tighter this time around but it is very different from what they used to do, so I dont expect everyone to be able to receive this album if what you really liked about them was their metalcore driven riffs.

I’ve been so busy at school, for a while I forgot I even had a blog site.

Well, I think the time I spend studying at school has been paying off, except for probably math, I still suck at that. Anyway, music-wise, I haven’t written anything in a while, basically just dried out for now. It’s probably because I haven’t really gotten the sound I really want, or maybe because I suck. I think the latter might be true. Negative thinking aside, I do think the project’s progress has been healthy, the music is getting along beautifully. We’ve gotten three songs down and I think we’re going to start working on the fourth soon. I just wish we had a place to record, after Fazil left, we kind of lost our way for a while, until we actually made an effort to get back on track. But I can say, almost definitely, we won’t be playing any gigs for a while, I mean A WHILE.

By the way, the holidays are almost here, nine days left. It’s all I could think about, I need to unwind, bad!

I haven’t had dreams in quite a while, in fact, I don’t remember the last time I had one but the last few months I’ve been having a lot of them. I don’t like the feeling, that empty feeling when you wake up. I don’t know why I lost the ability to have them, or at least remember them in the first place, what triggered them back? I realize now, it was a blessing, not to have them. To wake up being a black void, feels painful.

Last Sunday, I went SMJA to take my test, for the job application I handed in at the Immigration office. It was quite easy, which was a surprise, I thought they would’ve had a lot of question about directors and stuff. I hope I get the interview. Nothing would be more relieving than to have a job right now. I plan to take night classes to finish my diploma. At least won’t feel like such a failure.

I’ve bought a few DVDs which I think worth mentioning here, Grindhouse: Death Proof and An Inconvenient Truth. I think everyone already knows what Death Proof is about, I haven’t seen Planet Terror yet since the original copies aren’t out yet but the other one, An Inconvenient Truth, is a documentary. Actually I don’t think it even qualifies as a documentary, it just shows Al Gore doing his slide show presentation about global warming and it scared the shit out of me. I think everyone needs to see it, at least once, it will change your views on global warming. And and and, you’ll finally get what Lisa was trying to do with the man lift in the Simpson’s Movie if you do decide to watch it.

I think I’m starting to hate school again. There seems to be some kind of crisis going on but it doesn’t really concern me, because they’re from my old class. I don’t know why I like to think I’m somehow involved.

I've been meaning to write but every time I log in, there's always something else to do. Anyways, Airholes is suppose to play tonight at TT Blues with I Mean The Snakes. I can't tell you how nervous I am about tonight. We haven't practiced in I think a few months and we only had one session, two days ago. I really hope there'll be a major storm going on at Gadong tonight and rips out TT Blues out of its foundation. Yeah I'm that nervous. Another thing, I don't think my guitar strings can hold, if any of them breaks tonight, I'll be fucked. There's a reason why I'm only posting this the last minute, I secretly hope no one will show up but slim chance that'll happen, IMTS is playing. And you know what else, I feel like shit, I've been sick.

Anygoose, my laptop has been a bitch lately, the batteries don't last longer than 15 minutes (less with the wireless turned on), the CD-ROM Drive won't play some CDs and won't write at all and the nav pad won't work at all, so I have to bring a mouse everywhere, but that wouldn't matter because it's hard to find a power outlet anyway so my laptop is basically useless away from home.

Uhmm, I don't know whether it's confirmed yet but Azam's leaving for KL I think in late August. I wish the best for the guy. For all the good times and better times we had, I thank you.

Yeah, I haven’t blogged for quite a while I think. Well, it is confirmed, I am repeating my whole course. My class starts tomorrow. New classmates and new lecturers, it’s like a whole new leaf. But at the moment I am applying for jobs everywhere so I might not even finish this one. I can’t help it sometimes that I feel like a failure. I’ve made bad choices and I never learn. It scares me sometimes that I think I failed my course on purpose, because I wasn’t even touching my assignment papers. I remember feeling used, I was paranoid all the time about other classmates talking behind my back. But none of them ever happened. Maybe it is too late to try to convince everyone I’m not crazy. Ah well.

Me and Dani met up, last night, we’re beginning to write music in ways we never did before. I’m proud of my drummer, haha, I wouldn’t trade him for anybody. Sorry, I’m not trying to shove it in your face, I’m just really happy about it.

Emery’s new album is coming out. This October, if I remember it right. I am pretty much looking forward to it, I saw one of their home videos, while they were recording one of the guitarists did this thing that was amazingly beautiful. He tapped over a fifth chord. I can’t quite explain what he did, it just sounded beautiful. So I am looking forward to whatever new techniques I can rip off from them.

Uhmm. Yeah, I saw the Transformers last night. To be honest, I didn’t like the plot and storyline. Okay, to be real honest the storyline was complete crap. It would’ve been better off labeled a comedy. I’m going to hate myself for saying this but I didn’t mind being a bit more shallow with movies this time. I think any hardcore fan could see this movie past its flaws. The graphics were phenomenal and their voices do seem to be based on the voices from the G1 era, except for Optimus of course, he actually is the guy from the G1 series (Peter Cullen). All in all, I really wish they would’ve given the same kind dedication to their story writing as they did for their graphics. They could’ve done it a lot better than they had. But in the end, they did hint a sequel. I hope they do make one and maybe do it better.

I met up with Faadzil last night and he had good news, on the 8th of June, I Mean The Snakes, The Baker's Wife and Airholes are scheduled to play at the BSRC Seria. I can't elaborate further for now but I will when I get more information.

From what I understand, BSRC will be holding gigs every friday night, starting the 1st of June, on which Incisive and (I'm not sure whether) Sadness In Her Eyes or Malice My Shadows. But there's really no way for me to confirm any of this, they're only second-hand information.

Anyway, the band actually met up yesterday for practice, we were rather rusty but it really was a productive day for us. We discussed one of those things that have been been bugging but never told them about. To my relief, they actually liked the new sounds I had. I'm looking forward to completing them soon. Hello technicality!!

I’ve been listening to Carcass’ Heartwork for a while now and just now I was surfing through my local bands folder, gave a listen to Evilive’s Merciless and I think there are a few disturbing similarities between the two songs, particularly verses. It could just be me but if you happen think the same, let me know.

So yeah, I had my Information System’s paper today, uhmmmmmmm, I don’t want to talk about it.

I might want to make a new myspace or purevolume page soon, put up my songs in there, cause I’ve been thinking lately, maybe the best way to find a line-up is to advertise the songs so there won’t be any confusion of what people should expect the band should sound like, except for vocals, I still have no idea how it’ll sound like. Maybe when I finish the second song I’ll go ahead with it, anyway I'll let you know here.

I actually met this guy, the guy I told you about sometime before. I heard he was a good guitarist, he actually was but I decided he wasn’t what I was looking for, not by a long shot. Still trying though, if you happen to know anyone looking for a band you should tell me.

So as I said, I’ve started listening to bands again. I found a few bands which I think are worth mentioning here.

Four Letter Lie – Rocky loves Emily

I actually downloaded the whole album, I thought all the songs were decent but I put this song in here because I think it’s the most accessible. I just didn’t like one song from the album, Feel like fame, not because it’s a bad song, it just didn’t fit the general sound of the album. It was the only pop song in there. But this shouldn’t discourage you, I still say it’s a good album overall.

I Am Ghost – Our friend Lazarus sleeps

Again, the whole album is just creamy goodness, but this is my most favorite song. These guys sound awesome. Maybe a little quote from my friend the Wiki;

“I Am Ghost's first full length album Lovers' Requiem was released on October 10, 2006. Lead vocalist Steven Juliano explains, "It’s essentially a rock opera, but for hardcore or goth kids."

I couldn’t have said it any better.

The Fall of Troy – I just got this symphony going

This is the only song I got from them. The band is basically a Math-metal band. They use very unusual time signatures. I thought the song was kind of decent

Protest The Hero – Heretics and killers

Can I just say, Protest The Hero is the bomb. So much so that they should be illegal. Anyway, their sound is I think influenced heavily by Progressive Metal bands, but these guys actually took it up another notch by adding Math-metal elements and some Metalcore riffings. Some of the craziest time signatures I’ve heard. If you want to check them out, check out their latest album, Kezia, not the one before that, they sound nothing like how they sound now. They used to play some kind of hardcore punk or post hardcore or something like that. Check out every song in Kezia, they’re all good, I put in that one because again, I think it’s the most accessible, after that I think the rest should be pretty easy to get into.

Extol – Undeceived

This is I think Extol’s greatest album (also called Undeceived). Their more recent stuff do not reflect any of their older work, they’ve gone a bit mainstream. Anyway, I like this album because it sort of it emphasizes the melodic side of Death Metal and there are some elements of trash too, so it’s very good.

As I Lay Dying – Control is dead

I just downloaded the whole Shadows Are Security album today. Listening to whole album kind of made me wonder if anyone could really tell one song from another, they all sound like the same songs. Although I enjoyed the album, I just wish it didn’t feel like listening to a 30 minute song. Anyway, I picked this song because Daniel Weyandt of Zao is guest vocals in it, I still love his growls, which is more like a snarl.

Misery Signals – Murder

I don’t know why I didn’t appreciate them more before this. Their mp3s have been sitting in my laptop for a long time, I mean two years ago, and this song isn’t really their latest work. I’ll try to find more of their songs, definitely, these guys simply amzing.

I could be wrong, but it seems like nowadays, spelling things out are pretty hip in the music scene. D to the U to the C to the K. I think it’s wonderful that these hip hop artists are teaching kids how to spell right and with cool phrases like “get down low”, “smack that” and “smoke weed a lot”, they leave this generation’s little kids with little reason to deviate from high standards of morality.

You know, I swear to god, I was once forced to listen to the radio and there was this song that kind of went “ I could say nothing on the track bla bla bla bla bla bla.. This is why I’m hot, you ain’t cause you not…” just perfect, perfect song writing…

I seriously hate how the music scene is turning out, that’s why I used to love going to Solitude, they purposely do not play music so people could actually enjoy themselves.

Argh goddammit, I hate being alive right now.

I heard the two new singles from Paramore, sadly, I announce, one of my most favourite band have gone mainstream. For those people who think mainstream means getting on MTV, let me tell you now, I don't agree, I mean I don't agree, because I could be wrong. Anyway, I think it depends on a lot of things although I can't really define what a lot of things is. For example, I think Red Jumpsuit Apparatus is mainstream, as well as Bullet For my Valentine (though a lot of people recognize them as a metalcore band, I don't quite agree). Wait a minute, I got a bit out off the subject didn't I? Anyway, Paramore's two new singles, I thought they did change, who knows, maybe in time, I'd grow into them, though that is very unlikely. What bothers me so much is that one of the songs sounds so much like Panic! At The Disco, I mean, vocal/lyrics wise. Out of all things, Panic!? what the fuck is right. I hate Panic! At The Disco. I mean I HATE PANIC!

Speaking of which, I still remember the time when Panic! was every scene/emo/screamo kids' favorite, the second they went on MTV, everyone denied ever liking them, hahahaha, now that my friends, is poser-ism.

By the way, right now I am online in a restaurant somewhere in Sengkurong. A bunch of emo kids are sitting right behind me, oh my god these guys are annoying. I think the word faggot needs to be re-defined. Maybe something like,

Paramore recorded their second album, RIOT!, from December 2006 to March 2007. Paramore will be on Warped Tour 2007 and have a headlining tour in April with This Providence and Almost. They have stated that they will play about 3 new songs and confirmed the song "Hallelujah" will be on the new record. RIOT! will be released June 12, 2007.

Hello again. The sun has been a bitch to everybody in Brunei for quite a while now. I’m getting tanner everyday.

Anyways, I’ve been thinking a lot lately, about the band. I guess it is a bit frustrating for all of us nowadays that we haven’t seen each other for a while, let alone jam or anything like that. Sometimes I think it’s better to just end the whole thing once and for all than to leave things hanging, like the way it is now. Honestly, our musical tastes have changed, unfortunately, not in the same direction, maybe at least mine. I only started Jenna Human because I thought maybe it could influence Airholes in some way. Jenna Human just frustrated me even more when the one song I’d stab anyone in the back for couldn’t go anywhere, ironically, because of conflicts in the band (which no one ever talks about). To be real honest, I’ve been thinking of quitting the band for a long time now, I never told them about it. The coward I am.

I’m at the moment very interested in forming a new band, maybe a whole new line-up. I’m currently collecting connections, maybe when (that’s the real question, when?) I find the right people I’ll try to get a band together and really start making songs the way I want them made.

Anyways…

As some of my close friends already know, I’ve stopped listening to bands a while ago (for reasons I will not state here), exactly on month ago today. I’m happy to announce that I’m back into the band business, for good reasons too; good bands need to be heard. God it feels good to hear awesome riffs and murderous screams again.

So yeah, bands I just got to listen to are Four Letter Lies and I am Ghost. I am Ghost sounds a bit weird, that is if weird means kick-motherfucking-ass. They sound very much like a hybrid of emo-punk and some kind of old school melodic progressive metal (I mean to me they do), but what do I know? Exactly nothing. So don’t listen to me and find out yourself.

I think I won’t be posting for a while after this, exam season has officially commenced.

I don’t know what that was, it just came out. I know I haven’t been blogging for a while, assignments have been murderous and the final year exams are really close, I mean, real close, it starts 2^nd April.

Anyways, I watched these two movies that I think everyone should know about. Find Me Guilty and Death of a President.

Now, Find Me Guilty is about a real mobster, if I’m not mistaken, his real name was Giacomo DiNorscio. I think I only got his first name right, italian names are hard to spell. Briefly, this guy had to defend himself in court since he didn’t trust his lawyer enough. What I really loved about the movie was the soundtrack, they mostly used smooth jazz songs. I thought that gave the movie its whole feel. I know, it’s hard to understand, that’s exactly why I think you should watch it yourself. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Vin Diesel plays DiNorscio. If you knew me enough, you’d know how much I hate Diesel but all in all, I thought he was brilliant in this brilliant movie.

Ahhh, I’m especially excited about this movie, Death of a President. It’s basically a movie documentary, a fake movie documentary, about President Bush’s death, or more accurately, his assassination. The only thing that I thought the movie didn’t do well in was that they had actors playing the roles, I mean, don’t get me wrong, I thought the actors were very good but you can’t really act a documentary film, it has to feel real. You could still (faintly) hear them reading from the script. Still, the movie was great, it dealt with issues I think are still very alive in the American society, or quite possibly the whole world; racial profiling, terrorism and the ongoing war. In whole, I thought the movie was impressive.

Enough movie talk though. This morning I had a chat with Azmil and he said was thinking of putting together a band and he asked if I wanted to join in, just for fun. I admit, I got a bit excited about it, I haven’t felt that in a long time, that experience, it felt good. I think we can all safely say that Airholes won’t be active for a while, for very real reasons. So I’m looking forward to it. And he mentioned this other guy who plays guitar, if he is as good as Azmil says he is, I think I might bring him in to my own project band, which by the way is also dying. That is if he is interested, I hear his music preferences are similar to mine.

I think that’s all for now, I have to finish up on my report tonight, I’ll be pumping in caffeine by the gallons. Wish me bucks..

I watched an awesome movie today. No I didn't see 300 again, will all of you shut up about that movie, yeah, it's awesome, I don't need you to remind me 1000000 times. So what I'm really talking about is Mobsters. I was going to explain it myself but the synopsis in the back cover I think already said it best, so I'll just quote it here.

"A fictionalized account based on four true figures....."

I was going to write the whole thing down but then I remembered I was Bruneian (thank you....). Luciano, Siegel, Costello and Lansky are real people. They killed and sold booze and killed some more. Yeah, it's a great movie and all but the best part of movie for me was the 'kind-of-like-a-cameo' of another mob boss. Okay, if you don't want me to spoil you who it is, you should stop reading right about here, cause he only appears at the end of the movie. Okay, ready? Al Capone. Yeaheah... I mean not Al Capone himself, his character. Another part I thought was very funny was when Meyer Lansky said, "a wedding is like a funeral............ but with musicians", I laughed so hard when I heard that.

Yeah, so find the DVD if you can. I'm still trying to get Capone but that Rocky guy's in that movie,. What's his name? Stallone, yeah, I hate his guts. Sorry if you like him but I still hate his guts. Don't ask me why, cause I don't know. But I do, hate his guts I mean. So I don't know if going to like the movie but I'll try anyway.

Scratch Ed Gein off. It sucks. Not worth your money, even if it's two dollars (I didn't say it was a secret I got my DVDs from Kominis, what do you want me to do? I'm cheap). Maybe you would be interested in the movie, just to find out who Ed Gein is, or was, after all, he is kind of like an historical figure. But then I would suggest you read up on him, cause the movie won't tell you much, I mean, not that I would know, I only saw the first 30 minutes of the movie but then again, I don't think anyone could survive watching it any longer than that.

Speaking of Kominis, I was there today and I saw Hannibal Rising's DVD. Now, if you all don't already know I am the one and only certified expert of Kominis DVDs, then, ummmm, I'd like to tell you that I am.... Anyways, When A DVD is marked $2, the DVD is usually a copy from original good quality DVDs but sometimes you do get the crappy promotional versions. But when it's marked $1.50, that always, always, always means it was recorded from the cinema and they're always, always, always crappy. So yeah to continue that last subject, the Hannibal Rising DVD was $1.50, that why I didn't get it.

So I want you to remember, get Mobsters and forget Ed Gein. Thank you.

So yeah, finally I got to go to the cinema. To see 300. It was worth the money I spent, though it be four dollars but if you knew how broke I am... So yeah. I don't want to talk about the movie every other soul on earth is talking about.

What I wanna talk about is Pan's Labyrinth. Directed by Guilermo Del Toro. The only other movie I knew he ever directed was Hellboy, so you could understand why I doubted the movie at first, though Hellboy was a decent movie. By the way, he also wrote this movie. It's a story about a pregnant mother, her daughter who had to move out deep into the woods somewhere in northern Spain to live with their war general husband/stepfather. The movie is set in 1944, I have no idea if that is true but it says so in the back cover of the DVD. I think it was based on a true event. The movie is spoken in spanish so it took me quite a while to get used to reading from subtitles. Basically (from what I understood anyway), this girl, Ofelia, was living a fairy tale. She believes if she does all the tasks this 'faun' asks her to do, she will be transported to another world and become a princess (which the 'faun' claims, is what she really is). So basically this movie is a violent (yes quite violent) fairy tale. I liked it very much. Mature movie-goers I think would love it.

Other movies I think you should look out for this year; Grind House, Hannibal Rising, Invisible, Ed Gein, Transformers, The Simpsons and a bunch of other movies I can't think of right now.

Dani told me about this one, Grind House. I'm not sure what it's about but from what I can catch from the trailer, it's a double feature DVD. That means there'll be two movies in the DVD, Planet Terror and Death Proof, by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino respectively. I think it's sort of an homage to old horror/B-movies, particularly from Bruce Campbell's era. The trailer looks awesome. Check the trailer out somewhere, you'll know what I mean. And it's Tarantino and Rodriguez, they haven't disappointed anyone, yet.

Ed Gein. Basically every character in every movie ever made that wears his victim's skin as a suit, was modeled after Ed Gein. Namely, that guy in Silence of the Lambs and Leatherface. Look him up, he led a pretty colorful life, give extra attention when you happen run into the article about his encounter with some sheep. In case you still can't catch what I'm trying to say, Ed Gein is a real guy. And good news, I hear it's already in DVD shops.

Invisible unfortunately I can't explain. Too complicated. Search the trailer. And the other movies I think everyone already knows what they're about. By the way, if you ever see Serpico in DVD, buy it! It's awesome.

I haven’t really been that talkative lately. I think it might be because I’ve gotten so used to talking to myself, I don’t feel the need to communicate anymore, well, not as much as before. But I am getting better for sure, not because things are better but the fact that I’ve been thrown down so much that I don’t think it can get any worse. I realize, when I’m really low, I should be picking myself up because I can never really depend on other people. Not because I have bad friends by the way, it’s just the way I am.

The last time anyone texted me (apart from the one I received two minutes ago) was on 13^th March, about an assignment and the one before that was on the 10^th March. In exactly a month from today, in total, I’ve received 7 messages.

But you know what, I’m just fine. I’ve never felt better (anyway).

A whole other story, the school thing, I might want to hold on to it for now, just until I can really decide whether I want to drop-out or not. And my teachers told me I’m repeating some subjects for sure next year. So yeah, I’m starting over again.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I got my third warning letter. That means if my attendance ever goes below 85% again, they’ll send me my fourth and last warning letter and I will get kicked out of school. The good news just keeps coming, don’t it? Just seeing how easy it is to get one of these warning letters, I don’t know how I’m going to get through another two years. Just how easy it is to get one? Well, I have no complaints about how I got the first one but the second letter I got because I was absent for two days and late for three classes in January, my attendance was 84%. Now my previous understanding on how schools can give these warning letters is when a students is absent for more than three days, which means at least four days. Usually three late attendances only count as a day’s absence, that means in total I had three absences. I confronted my Group Coordinator; my arguments fell on deaf ears.

You know what, I’m still just fine.

My third warning letter, February. Most of my classmates joined the national day celebration and they had to practice all day long under the sun for about a month. If you don’t already know, I suffer from Psoriasis. That means I can’t spend more than half an hour under the hot sun, let alone for a month. So I told this to my Group Coordinator and I was excused from joining. So for about a month from the 23^rd February, there were basically no afternoon classes going on. I remember I was absent for two days, one of them excused with a medical certificate, which means I was only absent for a day. You couldn’t imagine how I felt when they told me that my attendance for that month was only about 70%, total absence of 8 days. To my amazement, only now they tell me that if I skip any class within a day, my attendance for the whole day will not count. They didn’t count the fact that there were no afternoon classes going on for more than half a month and no classes at all for the other half and the fact that I only went home after 3pm, never earlier.

But yeah, all is good. I’ve never felt better.

I've decided to quit school. I cannot cope anymore. I've already talked to my dad, he was fine but my mom won't be pleased. I'm just worried about my parents really, I hope they won't get too disappointed.

If everything goes my way I should be working somewhere in the middle of this year. This isn't going to be easy but there's no other option, it's obvious I'm not capable of studying anymore.

The idea of a moral society used to be the number one concern in this country. It really was.

This current generation of young Bruneians, probably like the idea of experimenting or more likely, Americanizing themselves (or maybe more accurately, westernizing). None can deny, everything we do, we model our own version of the perfect westerner and we try so fucking hard to look like and live like them. Only until we are them we’d be happy.

This generation parties every night with a catalogue of drugs and alcohol on their fucking hands. They wake up next to people they can’t even remember meeting, feeling like they were shot in the head the night before. How could we want this? Do we really have to be exactly like our idols that we copy their lifestyles too? Who are we kidding? How fun is a party when all we do is the same thing every night?

This new superficial generation, even the idea of ‘beautiful’ is translated for us by the television (the western television of course), to the extent where we try to compare ourselves to them. “Oh, this is so good I would’ve thought it was from America”, why does it have to be from America if it’s good? Because we are the real posers, we try too fucking hard to be what we just can’t be. Some of us even feel ashamed to speak our own language (don’t get me wrong, I may write in English but I speak Malay).

We eat their food, listen to their music, try to talk like them, celebrate their holidays, watch their movies/shows, wear their clothes and some of us even give ourselves their names, even if it’s nothing like our real name. Our religion is going to hell (don’t mind the pun), go to your nearest mosque, the average ratio of old people to young is about 4:1 respectively.

I’m not saying these things I just said are bad, or good even. I’m merely painting a small portion of the image of Brunei today. And I am getting quite sick of it.

So I finally decided to cancel my Friendster account. After all this while, it never came to me that keeping it was completely pointless. Testimonials, comments or whatever, what the fuck are they for? To show people you barely know how much you mean to your friends and get in that higher friends list competition? Why the fuck would I want to do that. I am not a social sheep, plain and simple.

Sorry, I admit, I am a bit cranky. The past 2 weeks have been tough. I swear to god, sometimes I think death couldn’t be worse than living like this. I honestly don’t want to sound like one of those people who celebrate their suicidal tendencies. Believe me, everything I’ve said about it is how I really feel. If I could change who I was, things would turn out a whole lot less fucking complicated.

I just can’t understand people and I know they’re thinking the same about me, there’s just something about me that could never keep steady relationships, albeit friendship or love. In fact, most end with disasters. My whole life, I never felt like I was part of anything.

Maybe I’m just saying these things because I’m having a bad day but how many bad days can I keep struggling through, I fear for my life. I’m deteriorating, both figuratively and literally. My health has not been good. I need saving, I need god.

I haven’t been keeping my blog up to date for quite a while. Well, there hasn’t been anything worth mentioning here.

I’ve been thinking whether I should delete my Friendster account, it seems pointless to keep it. I’m just afraid that I might regret it. Still thinking.

Anyway, I kind of wanted to write about something hateful at first but I realize that would bring me a step closer to being a whining baby (or maybe I already am).

The truth is I’ve somehow changed and only now I can see that. Everything I’ve been through for the last 3-4 years has made me this way. I’ve never been able to take the guilt of hurting my friends but lately all I do is just that. Sure there’s guilt but I seem to be enjoying it rather than feel bad about it. Maybe its karma, maybe people have hurt me for so long and so much that by fate I get to make people feel what I have been feeling. But if it was karma, what I just said wouldn’t make any sense.

Well whatever, I figured while I still have some sense of humanity left in me, I should apologize now. To everyone, of how I’ve been acting. I’ve been a prick and honestly, I don’t think I’ll be getting any better anytime soon.

My first cousin died today, from some kind of brain tumor. My mom was crying when she heard it, “meninggal tia udah, sampat ku melap paluh nya, kepanasan ya tadi bah”. She says his name is Yusuf, he’s actually my dad’s brother’s son (my uncle’s son, my first cousin). My dad tried to keep his cool but he was obviously crushed (he was always like that, he had to be the tough guy, he couldn’t hurt a fly).

Yusuf was his name. I don’t know him at all, I don’t recognize the name and I can’t picture his face in my head. I don’t think I am emotionally dead but I do think I put everything else before my blood relatives. I’ve never visited any kind of family functions (including weddings and burials) and I think that makes me a certified prick. My dad’s going over to visit his family and I, in less than an hour, am going to the studio to jam. But let’s not go too far, I am not the victim. I, or any of my siblings, didn’t die. I didn’t know him, it feels too wrong to rant about how you have to feel sorry for me when someone else died.

So to the man named Yusuf bin Haji Mentrais, I wish I knew you, I’m sorry I never made an effort to do so, I hope you’re in a better place.

I’ve never told anyone but I love my family to death and I want them to know I’d die for them and I once almost had the chance to.

Bluergh, I was trying to come up with something/anything fun to talk about, but I haven’t been out that much and things aren’t really going well right now. I feel constricted in this country, there’s no outlet for all your frustrations. I wish I was somewhere else. I keep pretending I am somewhere else.

I miss being a kid, no worries, no drama. The two words, fun and school actually blends together.

So the project thing has once again come to a complete halt. I wish I could do something about it. I wish it was that easy. Perhaps it’s not a bad idea to act like a prick this time, but that just isn’t me, I’m not an asshole (at least I don’t think so).

Speaking of assholes, I hate local celebrities (you pricks actually call yourselves this). I mean I hate to be the guy that tells people what’s right or not but my god, this is ridiculous. People prancing around declaring themselves as artists with their fans and whatnot. How stupid can you be to think the word ‘celebrity’ actually means something in this country? So you got a song or two playing on radio, so fucking what? About million others have their songs airing on radio in other countries. Status is bullshit, it is for the superficial and stupid. And to listen to people that could talk for hours bragging about their work, oh my god, shut the fuck up! (Alright that’s enough).

I need to lighten up, I need to start working on the project and I need to do it soon. I need to know how to jumpstart things first, something like a cold shower.

Here I go again, my subliminal thoughts, manifesting in the form of a blog post. I can’t say the past few weeks haven’t been difficult. I’m stuck in a dilemma, teachers have been complaining a lot and I’m afraid I might be left behind in my studies. I’m seriously trying to cope and hopefully catch up, seriously, I know that’s a bit hard to believe but its true.

I been thinking of a lot of things lately, didn’t bother to say it to anyone, they wouldn’t understand. Things about religion, death, life and sometimes, love. Well, actually, anti-love, if you get what I mean.

Are all men and women destined to meet and fall for all the wrong people? Or maybe it’s just me, there might be something wrong with my motor relays or whatever thingamajiggy that does that for me (you’ll have to excuse me, I didn’t get credit for my Biology).

My mind can go at 10 different directions at a time. I could be talking about a good cup of coffee and end up talking about cool banners that bands put up at Ozzfest (this actually happened, all in five minutes I might add).

The light reflected off her eyes is brighter than the sun, her voice is ecstasy. Bliss has never hurt so much.
